✓ included in the free plan · "paid": available on a paid option, plan or service · ✗ not offered (confirmed by the vendor) · — not found: unsupported, or at least undocumented on the official site at the time we checked. Planning portals and site builders (The Knot, Zola, Joy) aren't in this table: guest photo collection is a secondary feature there, not the product.
What also matters — and a table can't show
- How many guests will actually contribute. The real test isn't the feature list, it's how many guests end up adding photos. Every extra step — installing an app, creating an account — loses contributions, especially from the less tech-savvy. Count your guests over 60 before you choose. It's measurable, too: on Eventer, an event gathers around a hundred photos and videos on average — the friction you remove up front is what fills the album.
- Videos, not just photos. The toast, the first dance, the walk down the aisle: a wedding's biggest moments are videos. Yet many tools treat them as an afterthought — capped length, reduced quality, or no video at all. Check the maximum length per clip, and what will be left of them when you download.
- Internet is sometimes shaky — and that's fine if it's planned for. Not every venue has solid coverage. Pick a solution built for that, or you may end up with three photos.
- Is someone there to help? A smooth experience sometimes needs a hand or a bit of advice — before, during and after the day. Is support available and responsive, for the organizer and the guests alike? Can the team react quickly?
- What happens after the wedding. The best photos often arrive late: guests sorting through theirs, the photographer delivering weeks later. An upload window that closes too soon costs you exactly when you least expect it.
- "How do I keep the photos and videos?" Ask this before you choose — because with most services the album eventually disappears: uploads close, everything is wiped after a few months, or storage depends on an active subscription. Look at the "how long the album is kept" row, note the deadline the day you choose, and check how you'd get everything back: one click or photo by photo, and in what quality.
- The full cost, not the sticker price. "Free" can hide the essentials behind a paywall: downloading, storage, quality. Read the pricing page to the end, with one question in mind: what do I need to have all my photos, in good quality, forever?
- Privacy, concretely. Who can see the album? And read the terms: what license do you grant over your photos, and does your data stay with the service — or get shared with a group whose business is selling you vendors? With children in the photos, the question isn't theoretical.
- Run a test before the big day. A wedding doesn't get a second take. Create the event ahead of time and try it with two or three people close to you. That's the only comparison that's 100% reliable.
Comparing is good. Trying is better.
A table is no substitute for the real thing: create your event for free and see for yourself.
